Papal States (1634) 1/2 grosso KM-179
This specimen was lot 1364 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €80 (about US$105 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PAPST URBAN VIII., 1623-1644. Die Münzstätte Rom. ½ Grosso A X/1632, Rom. Etwas beschnitten, sehr schön. (Papal States, Urban VIII, 1623-44, half grosso of the year 10, Rome mint. Clipped, very fine.)"
The SCWC states this type is not dated and this specimen does not bear a date altho the die may have had one. We're not so sure this specimen is clipped as the weight is over specification. The mezzo grosso was the smallest silver coin.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 0.79 g, 0.917 fine silver, this specimen 0,95 g.
