Jean Elsen sale 132, lot 591

This specimen was lot 591 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €180 (about US$228 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Urbain VIII (1623-1644), (Maffeo Barberini), AR teston, an 14, Rome. D/ B. à d. R/ VIVIT DEVS L'archange Michel terrassant le démon de sa lance. Rare. Beau à Très Beau. (Italy, Pontifical State, Urban VIII (1623-44), silver teston, year 14, Rome mint. Obverse: bust to right; reverse: St. Michael pierces a demon with his lance. Rare, fine to very fine.)"

This type is also listed for 1643-44 and undated. It is along the scarcer of the seventeen testone issued during Urban's rule.
