The first specimen was lot 3790 in Goldberg sale 70 (Los Angeles, September 2012), where it sold for $2,243. The catalog description[1] noted, "Oman. 20 Omani Rials, 1995. 25th National Day Anniversary. National arms and value within circle. Reverse: Radiant value within circle. NGC graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo." The second specimen was lot 50151 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[2] noted, "OMAN. 20 Omani Rials, 1995. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. Struck in commemoration of the 25th National Day anniversary. Modern minting perfection with exceptionally smooth frost atop the designs and faultless reflectivity in the fields. While the mintage of this issue appears unknown in numismatic circles, it was obviously extremely small, as only two examples have been certified by PCGS and NGC combined, with the sole NGC-graded example being the only example to appear in archived auction results. From the Pinnacle Collection." Oman, long a British protectorate, achieved full independence in 1971. Coinage began that year. She has watched enviously as her neighbors, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, harvest billions of dollars by selling oil, of which little occurs in Omani territory. This type also comes in silver.

Recorded mintage: unknown, proofs only.

Specification: 41.2 g, .916 fine gold, 1.213 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: silver: KM 143; gold: Fr-17a; KM-143a.
