Oldenburg 1660 1/36 thaler
This specimen was lot 11590 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €145 (about US$150). The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Oldenburg. 1/36 Taler, 1660. Jever Mint. Anton Günther. NGC EF Details--Environmental Damage. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: F. C. Bech Collection 1894 (Copenhagen-1906/1907) Lot # 1894." Anton Günther, count of Oldenburg 1603-67, was also lord of Jever, where this coin was struck. After his death, Jever passed to the dukes of Anhalt-Zerbst and Oldenburg to the kings of Denmark. This type was struck 1659-60 and 1664-66.
