Nurnberg 1623 thaler Dav-5636
This specimen was lot 3723 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €410 (about US$581 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NÜRNBERG, STADT Reichstaler 1623, mit Titel Ferdinands II. Mit Münzzeichen Stern auf der Vorderseite. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (city of Nuremberg, thaler of 1623, struck in the name of Ferdinand II, with star mintmark on the obverse. Handsome patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1621-28 with several mintmarks and is fairly common. The closely related Dav-5637 uses the abbreviation "SEMPER AVGVST·" instead of "SEMP·AVGVST·D:P:".
