This specimen was lot 2604 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY: Carl XIV Johan, 1818-1844, AE skilling, 1825, several planchet flaws (as usual with this type), better date, Good to VG, RR." This type was struck 1819-20, 1824-28 and 1831-34. Many dates are common but this one is rare. Norway, long part of the Danish kingdom, was confiscated and handed over to Sweden in 1814 as penalty for supporting Napoleon.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a very scarce date.
Specification: copper, 27 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-286, NM-61.
