This specimen was lot 25225 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johan 1/2 Speciedaler (60 Skilling) 1821-IGP, XF45 NGC, an appealing coin with silvery gray surfaces and a hint of luster in the legends." Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814. This type was issued by Sweden for Norway 1819-24. Most dates are rare; this one is only scarce.

Recorded mintage: 69,000.

Specification: 14.45 g, 0.875 fine silver, .406 troy oz ASW.
