The first specimen was lot 4802 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "Norway. 24 Skilling, 1819-IGP. Carl XIV John. Crowned arms. Reverse: Value and date. Lustrous. NGC graded AU-50." The second specimen was lot 25221 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[2] noted, "Carl XIV Johan of Sweden 24 Skilling 1819-IGP, MS62 NGC, lightly toned and original, typically weak strike on the lion. Very scarce type and grade." This coin passed for one fifth of a specie daler, the crown-size coin of Scandinavia. Norway was under Swedish rule 1814-1907.
