This specimen was lot 31086 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "Norway: Carl XIV Johan 24 Skillings 1827/5 MS63 PCGS. Incorrectly listed on the holder as being 7 over 3 in the date. Uncommon in Mint State, a choice piece with dappled smoky-gold luster across the planchet." This coin passed for one fifth of a specie daler, the crown-size coin of Scandinavia. This type was struck 1825-36; the overdate shown here receives no premium in the SCWC. The denomination was last struck in 1865. Norway was under Swedish rule 1814-1907.
