This specimen was lot 1171 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Modena. Scudo, ND (ca. 1629-58). Francesco I d'Este (1629-58). NGC VF-30. RARE. Large bold portrait." This type is listed in the SCWC under the Davenport number. It accompanied a slightly heavier ducatone (Dav-4036). Modena lies between Parma and Ferrara. Once independent, it is now part of Italy.
Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
