This specimen was lot 72557 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1835/4-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. A well struck and richly toned example. Clearly this piece sat for a prolonged period of time undisturbed." The Zacatecas mint struck half reales 1826-63 and 1869, being with Guanajuato the only mint to take seriously government decrees to mint small change.
