Shown is an 1819MoJJ half real, one of a type struck 1815-21. The "standard bust" shown of Ferdinand VII superseded the "imaginary bust" used 1808-14. Assayer JJ is recorded for the years 1812-21. The first specimen was lot 22782 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $446.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1819/8-JJ. NGC MS-65. Sharply struck with attractive multi hued iridescent toning."
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 1.69 g, 0.896 fine silver, .048 troy oz ASW.
