This specimen was lot 3178 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $2,990. The catalog description[1] noted, "1790 FM 4 escudos. Mexico City mint. EF-45 (NGC). Type as above/arms, legends, assayer, and mintmark around. Medium yellow gold. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."
