This specimen was lot 11046 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $207. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Carlos & Johanna, Late Series. Real, ND (ca. 1542/4). Assayer G (G-M). Partially toned with attractive underlying luster. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." The "Carlos and Johanna" coinage of 1536-55 is complicated and difficult to disentangle as records are sparse and the coins are not dated.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.38 g, 0.931 fine silver, .100 troy oz ASW.
