Sincona sale 47, lot 2860

This specimen was lot 2860 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$720 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, Lucerne, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Batzen (Halber Neutaler) 1795. Vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (city and canton of Lucerne, twenty batzen or half thaler of 1795. Extremely fine, Extraordinary condition.)"

This is a scarce one year type. It is the only issue of this denomination during the Old Regime. It was accompanied by a half batzen (KM 89), batzen (KM 92), 20 kreuzer (KM 88), 40 kreuzer (KM 91) and 40 batzen (KM 93/Dav-1775).
