Luzern 1795 1/2 batzen
This specimen was lot 4330 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$194 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Stadt und Kanton, Halbbatzen 1795, Luzern. Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Kunzmann, Auktion SINCONA 53, Zürich, Oktober 2018, aus Los 6475. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, half batzen of 1795, Luzern mint. About Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1795-96, with the 1796 being more common. In 1798, the French revolutionary army occupied Luzern and the rest of Switzerland.
