This specimen was part of lot 3769 in Goldberg sale 70 (Los Angeles, September 2012), where it sold for $1,438. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lesotho. 4 and 2 Maloti and 1 Loti, 1966. Moshoeshoe II in native head dress right. On independence. Lot of 3 coins. Choice Brilliant Proof." This coin matches the weight of a British gold two pounds. The other coins in the series included two maloti and one loti in gold and fifty, twenty, ten and five licente in silver. Lesotho is entirely surrounded by the Republic of South Africa.
