The first specimen was lot 24136 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN. 10 Sen, Year 9 (1876). Mutsuhito (Meiji). PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. Type II. A lustrous coin with pleasing, original surfaces and largely devoid of toning." This twenty sen was struck for the Meiji emperor 1873-77, 1880, 1885-88, 1891-1906. Proofs exist of this date.

Recorded mintage: 11,890,000, a common date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.800 fine silver, 17.6 mm diameter.
