This specimen was lot 3414 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN: Meiji, 1868-1912, AR 10 sen, year 10 (1877), attractive tone, PCGS graded MS64, ex Dr. Axel Wahlstedt Collection." This type, roughly equal to a dime, was struck 1873-1906 and is common in all grades. The superseding type (KM Y29), issued 1907-12, was 2.25 g, 0.720 fine silver. The last silver ten sen was struck in 1917.
