Kingdom of Italy in 1806, from Putzger's Atlas

This specimen was lot 627 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$531 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY | Königreich, Napoleone I. 1805-1814. 1 Lira 1812 M, Milano. FDC. Hübsche Patina. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler am Rand. (kingdom of Italy, Napoleon, 1805-14, one lira of 1812, Milan mint. Uncirculated, Attractively toned, Minor flan flaw at the edge.)"

This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The lira, which matched the French franc, was struck in some numbers 1808-14 at Milan, Venice and Bologna.

Recorded mintage: 331,669, a common date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, this specimen 5.00 g.
