This specimen was part of lot 3367 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), which sold for $588. The catalog description[1] noted, "Israel. Gold 500 Sheqel plus two silver 25 Sheqel, 1980. KM-114.1, 114.2, 115. Gold weight 0.5000 ounce. For the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Zeev Jabotinsky. Lot of 3 coins. 500 Sheqel Choice Brilliant Proof, 25 Sheqels Proof and BU." This is the only issue of this denomination tho it is safe to say that no gold coin of Israel actually circulated. It is accompanied by a silver 25 sheqel (KM 114). Massive influx of aid from the United States fueled inflation and coinage reforms in 1960, 1980 and 1985.

Recorded mintage: 7,471 proofs.

Specification: 17.28 g, 0.900 fine gold, 30 mm diameter.
