This type was struck 1984-85 at Jerusalem and Canberra for Israel. This was the largest denomination struck for circulation during the coinage reform of 1980-85. In 1985, the coinage was reformed again with one new sheqel = 1,000 old sheqalim. The new denomination is still in use altho inflation grinds relentlessly at its value.
Recorded mintage: 15,028,433 from Jerusalem plus 15,000,000 from Canberra.
Specification: 10.8 g, copper-nickel, 29 mm diameter.
