This type was struck 1982-85 at Jerusalem and Santiago, Chile. This was struck for circulation during the coinage reform of 1980-85. It was accompanied by a Hannukah commemorative (KM 134). In 1982, US$1 = 20.9 sheqalim. In 1985, the coinage was reformed again with one new sheqel = 1,000 old sheqalim. The new denomination is still in use altho inflation grinds relentlessly at its value.

Recorded mintage: 17,389,200.

Specification: 6.1 g, aluminum bronze, 24 mm diameter, designed by Eliezer Weishoff and Tidhar Dagan..
