This specimen was lot 1378 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN: Nasir al-Din Shah, 1848-1896, AR 500 dinars, Tehran, AH1297, superb strike, magnificent iridescent toning, AU, R." This silver coin was struck AH 1297-1301, 1306-07, 1311 and undated. With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran.
