Iran AH 1297 2000 dinars KM-904
This specimen was lot 1043 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 2000 Dinars 1297 AH (1879/1880 AD), Tehran Mint. Very rare, especially in this condition. NGC MS63. Magnificent condition. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 78. Bought from A. de Clermont, London, 2007. Finest certified by NGC."
With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. The SCWC lists this scarce type for AH 1296-1298 and undated. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. This denomination was also struck in gold (Fr-64).
