This specimen was lot 24081 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 1,000 Dinars (Kran), AH 1296 (1879). PCGS MS-65+ Secure Holder. Nice strike, toned on the reverse, obverse is brilliant." This type is listed for AH 1294-98 and many dates are common. It was roughly equal to a franc. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The largest silver coin was the five krans.
