Iran AH 1294 1/4 kran
This specimen was lot 4163 in Sincona sale 67 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$691 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN | Qajar Dynasty | Nâsir al-dîn Shâh, 1264-1313 H./1848-1896 AD, Machine struck coinage, always with the mint name Tihrân, silver coins. 1/4 Qiran 1294 H. Titles and name in wreath, mint below, rev. lion and sun above value in wreath, date below. Rare first date of issue. Extremely fine."
This type was struck AH 1294-1311 altho this is a rare date. With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran.
