Sincona sale 88, lot 213

This specimen was lot 213 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 4,750 CHF (about US$6,277 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Naser al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 (1848-1896). 2 Toman 1293 AH (1876), Tabriz Mint. "Saheb Gheran" type. Struck in the last year of hammered coinage. Von grösster Seltenheit; Of the highest rarity. NGC MS62. Purchased from Baldwin's, Dubai, in 2000."

The SCWC lists a double toman from Tabriz for AH 1280 (KM 854) but we don't know if it has the same design as the example shown here.

Specification: 6.9 g, gold, this specimen 6.89 g.
