This specimen was lot 46729 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Rupee, 1936-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. PCGS MS-65. Variety with die hardness test marks." This type was struck 1912-20, 1925-30, 1934 and 1936. The 1936 is a very common date for both mints. In the 1950's and 1960's both mints restruck coins of the Raj for sale to collectors; many restrikes may be distinguished by rusty dies.
Recorded mintage: 9,864,000 plus proofs and restrikes plus 25,744,000 from Calcutta.
