India 1935(b) 2 annas
This specimen was lot 72353 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1935-(B). Bombay Mint. NGC MS-62. Nearly choice and wholly captivating, this lustrous example exhibits only lightly scattered marks along with offering a pleasing tone throughout." The two annas, originally a silver coin (KM 515) was switched to copper-nickel in 1918 and struck to this design until 1936. Similar two annas were struck for George VI until 1947. The administration also attempted to circulate copper-nickel four and eight annas but failed.
