This specimen was lot 71697 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Anna, 1934-(C). Calcutta Mint. NGC MS-63. Scallop shaped. Light gray and fully radiant, this choice piece would appear to be a bit conservatively graded. As such, a premium-quality piece for the grade assigned." This one anna was struck at the Calcutta mint as part of a type struck 1912-36. The denomination was introduced in 1906 and struck until the end of the Raj in 1947. Bombay also struck this type but not in 1929-34.
