from Steve Album sale 45, lot 1042

This specimen was lot 1042 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $510. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AR ¼ rupee, 1913(c), an attractive proof restrike example! PCGS graded Proof 62." This type was struck 1912-20, 1925-30, 1934 and 1936. The Bombay mint contributed another 2,276,000. In the 1950's and 1960's both mints restruck coins of the Raj for sale to collectors; many restrikes may be distinguished by rusty dies.

Recorded mintage: 12,686,000 plus proofs plus 2,276,000 from Bombay.

Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver, .086 troy oz ASW, 19.3-20 mm diameter.
