India 1910-B rupee
This specimen was lot 75272 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1910-B. Bombay Mint. Edward VII. PCGS AU-58. Boldly lustrous and essentially brilliant, surfaces are argent with no hint of tone across any areas. The devices are minimally worn and the fields are satiny smooth, in all respects an extremely attractive example that would otherwise appear Mint State. With many specialists in the series, this resplendent Bombay example is sure to be popular when it crosses the block." The rupees of Edward VII were struck 1903-10 and most dates are common. Proofs are rare. The Calcutta mint contributed another 12,627,000.
