from the Mountain Groan Collection

The two annas was the smallest silver coin struck during the Raj and was equal to 1/8 rupee; it was superseded by a copper-nickel coin in 1918. All the Edward VII issues were struck at Calcutta except for a few made at Bombay in 1909.

Recorded mintage: 1,604,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 1.46 g, 0.917 fine silver, .043 troy oz ASW.
