Stack's Bowers September 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75103

This specimen was lot 75103 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Rupee, 1910-(B). Bombay Mint. Edward VII. NGC MS-62. Dot on vine variety. An appealing nearly Choice Mint example of this fractional type, delivering frosty luster and sharp details throughout." This type was struck 1903-10 at Bombay and Calcutta for Edward VI. This is the only date from Bombay. All the dates are common altho the proofs and restrikes are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver.
