India 1909-B rupee

from Stephen Album sale 43, lot 941

This specimen was lot 941 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: Edward VII, 1901-1910, AR rupee, 1909(b), Bombay mint, original proof striking, rare as such, uneven but pleasing toning, PCGS graded Proof 62." The rupees of Edward VII were struck 1903-10 and most dates are common. Proofs are rare.

Recorded mintage: 9,539,000 plus proofs and restrikes, a common date for the type.

Specification: 11.66 g, 0.917 fine silver, 0.343 troy oz ASW.
