India 1905-B rupee
This specimen was lot 52359 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee Restrike, 1905-B. Bombay Mint. Edward VII. PCGS PROOFLIKE-64. Dot on vine. Mostly gunmetal gray in color, this proof restrike issue features some enchanting darker toning spread nearer the peripheries on the obverse, creating great charm and character." The rupees of Edward VII were struck 1903-10 and most dates are common. Proofs are rare. The Calcutta mint contributed another 51,258,000. The "B" mintmark is below the cross on the crown on the reverse.
