Steve Album sale 38, lot 2733

This specimen was lot 2733 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $95.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: Edward VII, 1901-1910, AE ¼ anna, 1905(c), full red lustrous example! PCGS graded MS64 RD." This quarter anna was struck at the Calcutta mint 1903-06. The weight was reduced from 6.48 g in 1906 and thence to 4.72 g in 1909. A quarter anna was one sixty fourth of a rupee.

Recorded mintage: 17,408,000.

Specification: 6.48 g, copper, 25.3 mm diameter.
