This type was struck at Bombay and Calcutta in numerous varieties with a frozen date until the introduction of the Victoria quarter rupee (KM 453) in 1840. It is not common in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 9,842,000 at Calcutta plus 5,760,000 at Bombay.
Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver, .086 troy oz ASW.
