This specimen was lot 1405 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,528. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. East India Company. 1/4 Anna, 1835-(c). Proof Details--Altered Color. NGC. Beautiful reflective surfaces." This type was struck in enormous quantities at Calcutta, Bombay and Madras tho proofs are rare. The East India Company was dissolved and its assets taken over by the British government after the Mutiny of 1857.
