Hungary 1705 10 poltura KM-269
This specimen was lot 4727 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Leopold I. 1657-1705. Ku.-10 Poltura 1705, Leopoldstadt. Verschlungenes Monogramm LS (Leopoldstadt), zu den Seiten die geteilte Jahreszahl 17 - 05//EX / NECESITATE, darunter Wertzahl X in Kartusche. RR Prägeschwäche, sehr schön. Aus der Sammlung Eberhard Link. Exemplar der Auktion Tietjen + Co. 27. April 1973, Nr. 76. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold I, 1657-1705, copper ten poltura of 1705, Leopoldstadt mint. Obverse: Mintmark in monogram divides the date; reverse: motto and denomination in cartouche. Rare, weakly struck, very fine.)"
This was struck by the Hapsburgs in several varieties (KM 269, 270, 271). Crudely struck in large quantities, it is now rare in nice condition. Ten poltura = 15 krajczar = ¼ forint (gulden).
