Sedwick sale 10, lot 1165

This type was struck in 1899-1913, accompanied by similar five, ten, fifty centavos and one pesos. As dies were extensively reused, innumerable varieties exist. For 1902, the SCWC lists 1902/801, 1902/802, 1902/812, 1902/891, 1902/1 and the regular date. This date is listed as common. In 1899, the denomination was reduced from .900 to 0.835 fine, leading to more varieties as many dies engraved "0.900" were simply overstamped "0.835." This specimen was lot 1165 in Sedwick sale 10 (Winter Park, FL, October 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Honduras, 25 centavos, 1902/1, F in wreath above fineness, debased type. 6.3 grams. Lustrous AU for this somewhat crude issue (rare grade), clear overdate."

Recorded mintage: unknown.
