Sedwick sale 27, lot 1150

This specimen was lot 1150 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 27 (Winter Park, FL, May 2020), where it sold for $190.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "Honduras, bronze 1 centavo, 1903/2/0, plain edge. Very dark VF or better for the type with areas of slight encrustation, weak strike toward rims, centers relatively strong with clear date (scarce thus) that can only be described as a mess of jumbled numbers due to constant re-cutting of the die. Interestingly, NGC shows only one entry for this date (with the specifier "multiple overdates"), and that entry is at the VF level." This type was struck 1881, 1884-86, 1889-90, 1896-1904, 1907 and the 1903 is the key date. Many varieties of these feature crudely reworked dies.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 4.5 g, bronze, this specimen 3.41 grams.

Catalog reference: KM-46.
