This specimen was lot 45469 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Silver Ducat, 1661. NGC MS-62. Some doubling and planchet defects on this large and variably struck coin, but lustrous and definitely Mint State." Silver ducats from the province of Holland are not listed as rare but this is only the third one we have been able to obtain. The type is listed for 1659-70 (Dav-4896), 1672-74, 1679-80, 1683-95 (Dav-4898) and 1735-1800 (Dav-1840). Double silver ducats also exist.
