This type was struck for the kingdom of Hejaz, now the western part of Saudi Arabia, in the early 1920's. It is accompanied by silver ten and five piastres and bronze one, half and quarter piastres. The producer was probably the Heaton Mint in England. The type is scarce and expensive today. The second specimen was lot 1400 in Stephen Album sale 14. The catalog description[1] noted, "HEJAZ: al-Husayn b. Ali, 1916-1924, AR 20 piastres, Makka, AH1334 year 8, one of the finest known specimens, first we have seen in this high a grade, PCGS graded MS-64, ex. Bseiso collection."
