Hannover 1804-GFM 1/3 thaler KM-417
This specimen was lot 72272 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. 1/3 Taler, 1804-GFM. NGC MS-62. Laureate Head facing right. Good strike with a bold portrait. Dark even toning with iridescent highlights and good eye appeal." This is among the last issues of the electorate before its annexation by Napoleon in 1807. At the Congress of Vienna, it was restored as the kingdom of Hannover and ruled by the British kings until 1837. It is accompanied by a sixth thaler (KM 419 and KM 420), a twelfth thaler (KM 336), a third thaler (KM 421) and a two-thirds thaler (KM 413).
Recorded mintage: unknown but rather scarce.
