This specimen was lot 5738 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €170 (about US$237 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, Georg III. 1760-1820. 2/3 Taler 1805, Clausthal. Mit Signatur G · F · M · auf der Vorderseite. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 34, Dortmund 2006, Nr. 1277. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, George III, 1760-1820, two-thirds thaler of 1805, Clausthal mint, with initials "GFM" on the obverse. Choice example, about uncirculated.)"

The old electorate of Brunswick-Luneburg was seized by Napoleon in 1807 and handed over to Prussia. In 1810, it was partitioned between the kingdom of Westphalia and the empire itself. At the Congress of Vienna, it was restored as the kingdom of Hannover and ruled by the British kings until 1837. This is from a type of 1805-07; i.e., just before the Napoleonic annexation. It was accompanied by a 1/24 thaler, 1/6 thaler and single thaler. The previous type (KM 413, struck 1801-05), lacked the Order of the Garter around the arms. The denomination was last struck in 1839 and the kingdom was annexed by Prussia in 1866.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 13,09 g.
