This specimen was lot 73298 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 6 Mariengroschen (1/6 Taler), 1774-LCR. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). PCGS MS-62. Presenting a tone that is a delightful mix of gunmetal gray and amber, this nearly-Choice minor emanates from the earlier portion in the rather lengthy reign of George III in his role as the Elector of Hannover. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1762-84. Mintmaster LCR is listed for 1774-78. It was during this period that this coin slipped from one-sixth thaler to one-ninth thaler in value.
