Hannover 1737-CPS thaler Dav-2086
This specimen was lot 5202 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €600 (about US$775 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER, Georg II. 1727-1760. Reichstaler 1737, Clausthal. Feine Patina, fast vorzüglich. (electorate of Hannover, George II, 1727-60, thaler of 1737, Clausthal mint. Fine patina, abut extremely fine.)"
This "leaping stallion" thaler was struck 1727 and 1730-49 and has a moderate catalog value. Other thalers for 1737 include KM 230 (leaping stallion), KM 231.1 (bust), KM 232.1 (St. Andrew reverse), KM 233 (wild man reverse) and KM 257 (Death of Wilhelmina Caroline).
