The first specimen was lot 55569 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 24 Mariengroschen, 1715-HH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg I Ludwig (George I of Great Britain). Extremely Fine. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." The second specimen was lot 74545 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[2] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1715-HH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (future George I of Great Britain). PCGS AU-55. Bright silvery surfaces exhibit delicate russet-gray toning around the peripheries and across the reverse. Highly lustrous overall, the design elements are rather nicely defined in the absence of all but light wear that does little more than explain the AU-55 rating from PCGS. An attractive and solidly graded Choice About Uncirculated example of this perennially popular German type. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1712-15 and is common. This is the last of the denomination until KM 341 (struck 1761-1800). In 1714, Georg Ludwig ascended the throne of Great Britain and all the Hanoverian coinage was revised to show his new title the next year.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-424; KM-73; Welter-2159.
